To help with the creation of new <X> files, you can download the dvn_template.xhtml template from SourceForge.net.

Download it from the web tier's /WEB-INF/project_templates directory and follow the instructions from NetBeans to create a new template:

"In the Projects window, right-click the file you would like to turn into a template and choose Save As Template.

In the Save As Template dialog box, select a category (Web) for the template and click OK."

Using the Template

Tips on how to use this template:

  1. Edit the web project's web directory and then select the option New|Other.
  2. From the category of templates, look for the dvn_template.xhtml.
  3. Do not select the template. First, click somewhere else in the pane, click on another file type in the pane, then click the dvn_template.
  4. Choose Next and follow the prompts to use the template.
