Use and Share Data

The Dataverse Network offers you a solution for publishing research data, or accessing data from other researchers for replication studies.

As a researcher, data distributor or publisher, if you have data related to social sciences, health, medicine, humanities or other sciences with an emphasis in human behavior, we encourage you to upload it to the IQSS Dataverse Network.  Our Dataverse Network is hosted at IQSS, Harvard University, but it's open to all data creators and distributors in the world. Its goal is to share and preserve all interesting research data, with a focus on social science data. You can create your own dataverse for free and start adding studies for your data files and complementary material (documents, software, etc). This is what you get with a dataverse:

  • A formal citation to your data files, with a persistent identifier
  • Credit and full control of your data
  • Your own branding for your dataverse
  • Professional backups of your data
  • A way to make your work more visible and searchable

To learn more about your options for uploading, preserving and sharing data in our IQSS Dataverse Network, go to the Publish Data section.

To learn more about using data from the IQSS Dataverse Network, go to the Discover Data section.

Otherwise, if you are interested in installing your own Dataverse Network for your University or organization, learn more in the Install the Software section. (Note that your can create a dataverse in our IQSS Dataverse Network independent of where you do your research, for free and without any software installation. The installation option is only for those organizations that choose to host their own Dataverse Network software).
